Emergency Vietnam Visa for Australians: Fast e-Visa 2026

Updated: October 13, 2026 By Visa Specialist

Australians fly to Vietnam from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide, and Vietnam's working hours fall on a different part of your day in each city. This guide shows which emergency e-Visa package fits your flight, when the clock runs in your time zone, and what to do before check-in.

In short

Australian citizens need an e-Visa before boarding. Emergency packages for single entry, government fee included: 30–60 minutes $215, 1.5 hours $185, 2.5 hours $155, 5 hours $125, 1 day $110, 2 days $100, 3 days $90, 4 days $65, and $230 for weekends and holidays. Multiple entry adds $25. Fast packages run on Vietnam working hours, and approval is decided by Vietnam Immigration, so it cannot be guaranteed.

What the e-Visa is for. Under our service terms, the e-Visa covers tourism. Work, teaching, volunteering, conferences and religious activities are not covered. If your trip involves any of these, message us before applying.

Do Australians need a visa, and can it be done in an emergency?

Yes to both. Australian passport holders need a visa to enter Vietnam, and the e-Visa is applied for online and delivered by email as a PDF. When time is short, an emergency package speeds up the review. It is the same e-Visa, issued by Vietnam Immigration, and only the speed changes. For the full process, see our e-Visa guide for Australian citizens.

Count back from airline check-in closing, commonly 45 to 60 minutes before departure for international flights. Day packages are counted in Vietnam working days, so for a flight tomorrow the hour packages are the safe choice.

When does the clock run in Australian time?

Vietnam is on GMT+7 all year. Australia is ahead of Vietnam, so Vietnam's workday starts around lunchtime on the east coast. The table shows Vietnam's two working sessions (8:00–11:30 and 13:30–18:00, Monday to Friday) in each city's time from 4 October 2026 until daylight saving ends in April 2027.

CityGap to VietnamMorning sessionAfternoon session
Sydney / Melbourne (AEDT)+4 hours12:00 – 15:3017:30 – 22:00
Brisbane (AEST)+3 hours11:00 – 14:3016:30 – 21:00
Adelaide (ACDT)+3.5 hours11:30 – 15:0017:00 – 21:30
Perth (AWST)+1 hour9:00 – 12:3014:30 – 19:00

What this means. An order placed in a Sydney morning waits until Vietnam opens at 12:00. The best window for east-coast travelers is the afternoon and evening, 17:30–22:00. After daylight saving ends in April, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide are each one hour closer to Vietnam.

What about weekends and holidays?

The government portal does not process on weekends or Vietnamese public holidays. The weekend and holiday service costs $230 (multiple entry $255). Pay by 15:00 Vietnam time to receive the e-Visa by 18:00 the same day.

What should I do if I fly tomorrow?

  • Check your inbox, spam and promotions folders in case the e-Visa has already arrived.
  • Verify the details against your passport: passport number, name and arrival date.
  • Work out your deadline: check-in closing time, then count back the hours.
  • Choose an hour package and order in the window above, when Vietnam is open.

What happens at the airport?

Airlines check entry documents at check-in, and rules vary by airline and route. At Vietnam's airports, immigration checks your e-Visa and passport. Have the approved e-Visa saved on your phone, with an optional printed copy, and check that the entry point on the e-Visa matches the airport where you land. A pending application is not a visa. There is no visa on arrival for Australian citizens.

What if I have already applied?

Do not apply twice. If your e-Visa is already processing on evisa.gov.vn, a second application does not make the first faster and can mean paying the government fee ($25 single / $50 multiple, non-refundable) twice. Send us your application code and we speed up the existing file: see how to speed up an existing application.

Can Australians get an emergency Vietnam visa?
Yes. Urgent e-Visa packages run from 30–60 minutes ($215) to 4 days ($65), plus a weekend and holiday service at $230. Speed depends on a complete, accurate application and Vietnam's working hours, and approval is decided by Vietnam Immigration, so it cannot be guaranteed.

What are Vietnam's working hours in Sydney time?
Vietnam processes Monday to Friday, 8:00–11:30 and 13:30–18:00 (GMT+7). In Sydney (AEDT, until early April) that is 12:00–15:30 and 17:30–22:00. After the clocks change in April, Sydney is one hour closer to Vietnam.
I am in Perth. Is it different?
