Vietnam e-Visa Still Processing? What to Do (US, 2026)

Updated: October 13, 2026 By Visa Specialist

You applied for a Vietnam e-Visa, the status still says processing, and your flight is getting closer. Here is how to tell whether to wait or act, what not to do, and how to speed up the application you already have.

In short

Standard processing is 3–5 working days, Monday to Friday in Vietnam time. Do not apply again, cancel or pay the government fee twice. If your flight is close, your existing file can be sped up from $65 (3 working days) to $185 (30–60 minutes), with $210 for weekends and holidays. These are service fees only. Approval is decided by Vietnam Immigration and cannot be guaranteed.

What "processing" actually means

A processing status means your file is in the government queue. It has not been rejected, and it has not been approved. The government system works Monday to Friday, 8:00–11:30 and 13:30–18:00 Vietnam time. Weekends and Vietnamese public holidays do not count toward the 3–5 working days, so an application submitted on a Friday evening in the US may not be looked at until the following week.

Why e-Visas get delayed

  • Photo problems. Blurry, dark or off-center photos are the most common cause.
  • Name or passport mismatches. A middle name in the wrong place, or one wrong digit, can stall or return the file.
  • Peak seasons. Volume rises around Tet, National Day and school holidays.
  • Weekends and holidays. No government processing happens in these windows.

A "processing" status is not a visa. Plan to have the approved e-Visa in hand before you travel, and check your airline's entry rules. Do not rely on a status page as proof of entitlement.

What not to do

Avoid

  • Submitting a second application "just in case"
  • Paying the government fee again
  • Cancelling the original file
  • Changing details without checking first

Do this instead

  • Keep your application code and registered email
  • Ask for your existing file to be checked
  • Request a speed-up on the file already in the system
  • Message us early, not hours before departure

How to speed up an existing application

1
Check your statusSearch your application code and registered email at evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search. Note the date you applied and count only working days in Vietnam.
2
Count the time you have leftCompare the working days left before your flight with the 3–5 working day timeline, remembering that weekends and Vietnamese holidays do not count.
3
Decide: wait or speed upUse the table above. If the margin is thin, speed up now rather than later, since each lost working day narrows your options.
4
Send us your application detailsWhatsApp +84 947 754 252 or email support@vietnamvisaeasy.net with your application code, registered email, passport name and flight date.
5
Free file checkWe review name structure, passport number, photo and entry point for errors before anything else.
6
Choose a tier and payPick the urgency level that fits your flight and pay online. The government fee is not charged again.
7
Receive and verify your e-VisaThe approved e-Visa arrives as a PDF. Check it against your passport and confirm it at evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search.

Speed-up prices (service fee only)

You already paid the government fee ($25 single entry, $50 multiple entry) to Vietnam Immigration, so speeding up your file only costs the service portion. That makes it cheaper than a new urgent application.

US time zones and Vietnam's working hours

During US daylight saving, Vietnam is 11 hours ahead of Eastern, 12 ahead of Central and 14 ahead of Pacific. From early November the gap grows by one hour.

In standard time (EST, CST, PST), US clock times are one hour earlier than shown.

Ordering in the US evening works in your favor, because it lands in Vietnam's next morning. The trap is Friday evening in the US, which is already Saturday in Vietnam. For weekend and holiday delivery, pay by 15:00 Vietnam time (04:00 EDT, 03:00 CDT, 01:00 PDT) to receive your visa by 18:00 Vietnam time.

Frequently asked questions

What does 'processing' mean on my Vietnam e-Visa?
It means your application is in the government queue and has not been approved or rejected yet. The standard timeline is 3–5 working days, Monday to Friday in Vietnam time, and weekends and Vietnamese public holidays do not count.
My Vietnam e-Visa is still processing. Should I apply again?
No. A second application creates a duplicate and can confuse both files. Keep the application you have and, if you need it faster, ask for that file to be sped up.
How can I check the status of my Vietnam e-Visa?
Go to evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search and enter your application code and registered email. The code looks like E260720USA followed by digits. Keep both safe from the moment you pay.
How long should I wait before acting?
If your flight is more than a week away, waiting is usually fine. If it is within 2 to 3 working days and the status has not changed, speed up your file. If it is within 24 hours, act now.
Is a 'processing' status enough to board my flight?
No. A processing status is not a visa. Plan to have the approved e-Visa in hand before you travel, and check your airline's entry document rules.
How much does it cost to speed up an existing application?
From $65 for 3 working days to $185 for 30–60 minutes, with a fixed $210 for weekend and holiday delivery. These are service fees only. You do not pay the $25 or $50 government fee again.
What time of day should I order from the United States?
The government works 8:00–11:30 and 13:30–18:00 Vietnam time, Monday to Friday. A US evening order lands in Vietnam's next morning, which is inside working hours.
What if I find a mistake in my application?
You can wait 3–5 days for the government to request a correction, or use our correction service at $85. With a speed-up we review your details first and request that the file be reopened if an error is found.
Do I get a refund if the deadline is missed?
Yes. If we accept your case, confirm a deadline and fail to deliver on time, you are refunded. The government fee is not refundable once your application has been submitted to Vietnam Immigration.
