Vietnam Urgent Visa for US Citizens: 1 to 5 Hours -- Which Option Is Right for You?
Three urgent processing tiers available for American passport holders on business days. This guide compares each option side by side so you can choose the right one for your flight window -- and avoid paying more than you need to.
Which Tier Should You Choose? Match Your Flight Window
The processing clock starts from receipt of complete documents and confirmed payment -- not from your first message. Factor document preparation time into your calculation.
What You Receive -- All Three Tiers Deliver the Same Document
Whether you choose the 1.5-hour, 2.5-hour, or 5-hour option, the document you receive is identical: an official Vietnam eVisa PDF issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department.
- Legally identical to any standard Vietnam eVisa -- no difference in type, validity, or acceptance
- Valid for up to 90 days from your actual entry date into Vietnam
- Available as single entry or multiple entry
- Accepted at all 83 designated entry points -- every international airport, 27 land border gates, 39 seaports
- No stamp fee, no counter payment, no cash required on arrival in Vietnam
- Airlines and immigration officers cannot distinguish it from a standard-processed eVisa
Documents to Send -- Same for All Three Tiers
Prepare and send all six at once before contacting us. The processing clock starts only when we have everything -- partial submissions cost you processing time.
Biographical data page -- full name, DOB, passport number, expiry visible. Sharp, no glare. Passport must be valid 6+ months from Vietnam entry date.
White background, face centred, no glasses, no hat, eyes open. JPG or PNG under 2MB. Non-compliant photos are the #1 rejection cause for US applicants.
Departure date and time, destination airport in Vietnam. This determines which tier we can safely commit to.
Planned arrival in Vietnam and intended departure. Entry date on eVisa must match your actual flight arrival.
Most US travelers arrive at Noi Bai (Hanoi) or Tan Son Nhat (HCMC). Any of the 83 designated points is valid.
Hotel name and address or host address for first night in Vietnam. Booking confirmation screenshot ideal.
Weekend and Public Holiday Processing
The 1.5-hour, 2.5-hour, and 5-hour tiers are processed on business days only -- Monday through Friday, Vietnam time (GMT+7). This is not a service limitation -- it reflects Vietnamese government processing hours.
Vietnam time is 11 hours ahead of US Eastern and 14 hours ahead of US Pacific. If it is Friday evening in New York, it is already Saturday in Vietnam.
For Saturday, Sunday, and Vietnamese public holiday applications, Vietnam Visa Easy offers a dedicated Weekend Service:
- Submit complete documents before 15:00 Vietnam time -- receive eVisa same day between 17:00 and 18:00 Vietnam time
- Submit after 15:00 VN time -- receive the following day before 18:00
- Contact us on WhatsApp to activate Weekend Service -- it is not the same as the standard emergency tiers
US-Specific Checks -- Applied to All Three Tiers
Before submitting any urgent application, Vietnam Visa Easy verifies these common US-specific error points:
- Middle name: All names must match the passport MRZ exactly, including middle names that many US travelers omit
- Date format: Vietnam uses DD/MM/YYYY -- US travelers habitually enter MM/DD/YYYY, which reads the month and day in reverse
- Passport validity: US passport must be valid for at least 6 months from Vietnam entry date, not from today
- Photo compliance: Plain white background only -- the most common automated rejection trigger for American applicants
These checks happen before submission on every application. Errors caught here prevent rejection and avoid losing the non-refundable $25 government fee.

Already Applied? Your eVisa Still Processing?
If you applied through the government portal and your eVisa is still showing "Processing," do not submit a duplicate application on the government portal. Instead, contact Vietnam Visa Easy to submit a new priority application through our channel in parallel.
- Both applications run simultaneously -- no conflict
- Whichever is approved first is the eVisa you use to travel
- The stuck application does not need to be cancelled

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the fastest Vietnam visa option for US citizens?
The fastest is 1.5-hour ultra-emergency processing at $185 total ($160 service fee + $25 government fee), available on business days (Monday through Friday, Vietnam time). The 90-minute clock starts from receipt of complete documents and payment.
What is the difference between 1.5-hour and 5-hour Vietnam visa processing?
Both deliver the same approved Vietnam eVisa PDF. The 1.5-hour option ($185 total) processes in 90 minutes and is for flights within 3 hours. The 5-hour option ($125 total) processes in about 5 hours and is for flights later today. Choose based on how much time you have before departure.
Are 1-5 hour Vietnam visa options available on weekends?
No -- these three tiers are business days only (Monday through Friday, Vietnam time, GMT+7, which is 11 hours ahead of US Eastern). For Saturday, Sunday, or public holiday applications, Vietnam Visa Easy offers a separate Weekend Service with delivery between 17:00 and 18:00 Vietnam time. Contact us on WhatsApp to confirm.
How do I choose between 1.5-hour, 2.5-hour, and 5-hour processing?
Flight in under 3 hours: choose 1.5-hour ($185). Flight in 3 to 6 hours: choose 2.5-hour ($155). Flight in 6 to 12 hours: choose 5-hour ($125). If you are unsure, WhatsApp us your exact departure time and we confirm which is safely achievable for your specific window.
Is the urgent eVisa the same as a standard Vietnam eVisa?
Yes. All three urgent tiers produce the same official Vietnam eVisa PDF issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department. It is legally identical to a standard eVisa -- same QR code, same official stamp, valid at all 83 entry points. Airlines and immigration officers cannot distinguish it from a standard-processed eVisa. No stamp fee or additional payment is required on arrival.
