Should I Apply for a Second Vietnam Visa If My First One Is Still Processing?

When a Vietnam e-Visa takes longer than expected, applying again feels like the safe move. Most of the time it is not. This guide explains when a second application is a mistake, when it is the right call, and what to do instead.

Why a second application usually backfires

It does not move the first file. The new application starts from the beginning of the queue.
You can pay twice. The government fee ($25 single / $50 multiple) is non-refundable once submitted.
It can create confusion. Two files in your name with different codes make it harder to track which visa you will actually receive.
The government portal has no support line to merge or cancel a duplicate for you.

What if your flight is tomorrow?

Do not start a new application. Speed up the one you have. A complete, accurate file can be approved in 30–60 minutes during Vietnam working hours, but approval is decided by Vietnam Immigration and cannot be guaranteed. A "processing" status is not a visa, so plan to hold the approved e-Visa before you travel and check your airline's entry rules.

Should I apply for a second Vietnam e-Visa if my first is still processing?

No. A second application creates a duplicate, can confuse both files and means paying the government fee twice. Keep the original and, if you need it sooner, ask for that file to be sped up.

Will a second application make my visa come faster?

No. Each file is reviewed on its own timeline, so a new application starts from the beginning instead of moving the first one forward.

When is a new application the right choice?

When the first visa cannot be used and cannot be corrected, when your passport has changed, when the visa has expired or been used and you need to enter again, or when you are re-entering after exiting Vietnam on a single-entry visa.

I made a mistake in my application. Do I need a second visa?

Not necessarily. You can wait 3–5 days for the government to request a correction, or use our correction service at $85, after which the visa information is updated on the government portal. If an issued visa has wrong details and cannot be used, a new application may be required.

I cannot find my application or my confirmation email. What should I do?

Check your spam folder, then search your application code with your registered email at evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search. If you still cannot find it, message us before applying again, because a duplicate does not recover the first file.

My application was rejected. Can I apply again?

Find out why first. Resubmitting the same details usually repeats the result. Fix the problem, such as the photo, passport details or entry point, and then apply with the correct information. The government fee for the rejected file is not refundable.

My plans changed. Do I need a new visa?

If your arrival date moves but your visa validity still covers your trip, you may not need a new one. If your travel falls outside the validity of the visa, or you want to change details that cannot be edited, a new application may be needed. Message us with your application code and we will advise.

How do I stay longer than my e-Visa allows?

You can arrange an extension at a Vietnamese immigration office, or exit Vietnam and apply for a new e-Visa before re-entering. Send us a photo of your exit stamp so we can process the new application quickly.

Do children need a separate visa application?

Yes. Every child with a passport needs a separate e-Visa. Combining a child with a parent's application can cause the whole application to be rejected.

Do I get a refund if the deadline is missed?

Yes. If we accept your case, confirm a deadline and fail to deliver on time, you are refunded. The government fee is not refundable once your application has been submitted to Vietnam Immigration.
