Part Two The Application, Field by Field
Once you've decided on purpose and document type, the form itself takes about five minutes — but each field matters more than it looks. Here's exactly what to enter and why.
1. Personal details Full name, date of birth, and nationality — exactly as printed on your passport, including middle names and any accents. A single character mismatch here is one of the most common causes of delay.
2. Passport information Passport number, issue date, and expiry date. Type your passport number twice and compare rather than copying it once and assuming it's correct — this alone prevents a large share of avoidable delays.
3. Entry date — the field most people get wrong Enter the exact date you plan to arrive in Vietnam. Your visa becomes valid from that date, not from your application date. If you're unsure of your exact arrival date yet, it's worth confirming flights first — changing this after approval isn't simple.
4. Visa duration — choose 3 months, even for shorter trips Selecting the 3-month e-Visa maximizes flexibility: you can still leave whenever you want, but you're not stuck needing an entirely new visa if your trip runs longer than planned. There's no downside to choosing more time than you think you need.
5. Entry port Select the specific airport, land border, or seaport matching your actual itinerary — Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, or another approved point. This is fixed once approved, so double-check it against your booked flight before submitting.
6. Upload your documents A clear scan of your passport's biographical page, plus a compliant portrait photo — see
exact photo requirements. A non-compliant photo is the single most common reason an otherwise correct application gets delayed.

8. Pay securely Card, PayPal, or bank transfer through an encrypted gateway. You'll receive a confirmation email immediately — save your registration code from this email, since it's what you'd use to check status independently or request an expedite later.
9. Receive and verify your e-Visa Delivered by email as a PDF with a QR code. Before you travel, cross-check every detail — name spelling, passport number, dates — against your actual passport. A genuine e-Visa can also be independently verified at

Every child with a passport needs their own individual e-Visa — attaching a child to a parent's application isn't valid and can cause both applications to be rejected.
