Forgot Your Vietnam Visa at Dublin Airport? Don’t Panic

Many Irish travelers only realize they need a Vietnam visa when checking in at the airport.

It happens more often than people think.

You arrive at Dublin Airport, hand over your passport, and the airline staff asks:

“Where is your Vietnam visa?”

Suddenly you remember you never applied.

The bad news is simple:
Airlines will not allow boarding without a valid Vietnam visa.

The good news?

In many cases, you can still obtain an urgent Vietnam e-Visa within a few hours — even on the day of departure.

Do Irish Citizens Need a Visa for Vietnam?

Yes.

Ireland is not on the Vietnam visa-exemption list.

Irish passport holders must apply for a Vietnam e-Visa before travel.

Without it:

• Airline check-in will be denied

• You cannot board your flight

• Immigration will not allow entry

This rule applies whether you fly from:

• Dublin

• Cork

• Shannon

Real Situation Irish Travelers Face

From experience, most emergency cases fall into these situations:

1️⃣ Travelers assumed visa-free entry existed
2️⃣ Visa application still “processing”
3️⃣ Wrong passport number entered
4️⃣ Applied too close to departure
5️⃣ Visa approved but email went to spam

These things happen every week.

But they can usually be fixed.

---

Can You Really Get a Vietnam Visa the Same Day?

Yes.

Irish travelers can obtain urgent Vietnam e-Visa approval within:

• 1.5 hours

• 2.5 hours

• 5 hours

• Same day

The key factor is how quickly the application is submitted and verified.

What If You Already Applied on the Government Website?

Many Irish travelers apply on evisa.gov.vn.

If your flight is approaching, the solution is not submitting another application.

Instead, you should accelerate your existing visa.
